The CSCC Special Saloons
+ Modsports series
An excellent season opening entry list has been released by the CSCC for the Thruxton triple-header for the weekend of April 22/23.
Any late entries have been be added . List correct as at April 20th
The CSCC are delighted to announce that the famous Baby Bertha Vauxhall Firenza is due to return to the series at Thruxton. Owner Joe Ward is in big demand these days in the ex-Gerry Marshall super saloon and the Thruxton round is the only such CSCC round we can expect the great old car to be able to participate due to a busy year of committments.
Back in the 1970`s Gerry Marshall raced the car at Thruxton on 5 occasions and won each time setting a record special saloon lap of 1 minute 20.4

Neil Duke is hoping to debut his new Ford Anglia built up by SHP at Thruxton. His Maguire Metro is on standby should the car not be quite race ready.
Craig Percy`s Morris Minor V8 has become one of the stars of the show and gets admirers each time the car is out.
Originally a Morris Minor Police car in the 60`s the car was beautifully turned into the racer it is now by previous owner/racer Chris Isaak. Percy will be back at Thruxton and hoping to put in another strong performance in this awesome car.
One of the most recognisable cars in the series is the spaceframe Ford Anglia Cosworth YB of Steven Moss. The car is pictured with its new bodywork showing further development and more aggressive looking. The car had a shake down at Snetterton in the week and Moss ,a race winner at both Donington and Silverstone will be out to put last years bad luck at Thruxton behind him.
David Beatty from Templepatrick ( North of Belfast ) is a regular series supporter and now owns both the ex-Gerry Marshall Marsh Plant Aston Martin V8s. For Thruxton however he is bringing out the Jim Morgan-built Honda Prelude Cosworth that won the 1993 Thundersaloon title in the hands of Rod Birley and Richard Piper.
A good example of a car collector who believes in keeping the cars where they belong ,on the track not a private museum.
Another Thundersaloon car is the Morris Brothers Peugeot 309 Cosworth which having been a stalwart entry for so long ,Ricky being the drivers representative had a torrid 2016 with bad luck at both Silverstone and Thruxton. The car has been fully repaired and ready to set the pace once again. Last year at Thruxton brother Danny set fastest lap at 1min 20.399 in race 2 before retirement which technically beat Gerry Marshall`s 40 year old record of 1min 20.4 for a special saloon. The boys will be determined to put 2016 behind them and get back on the top of the podium.
